Heater and stones are essential to a traditional sauna experience. With the room at least heated to 160ºF, the traditional sauna can be enjoyed two ways. The first is called a dry sauna, which lacks any added moisture. The second is called a wet sauna, where you sprinkle water onto the heated stones to create a refreshing burst of steam and added humidity. Traditional indoor saunas use your existing floor, and the Hillsboro is no exception.
Will the 6kW Wall Heater be sufficient for my Hillsboro sauna?
The 6kW Wall Heater will allow your sauna to reach temperatures of 170-180 degrees within 45-60 minutes. Each sauna is paired with a standard heater and offers different heater upgrades specific to the sauna.

Lumber Type: The Hillsboro is constructed using thick Nordic spruce pieces of lumber. This sturdy lumber is perfect for a free-standing sauna, and offers plenty of natural insulation.
Heater: You can upgrade the Hillsboro from the standard 6kW KIP heater to a 8kW KIP.

Mid-level handyman and assembly skills are recommended for this sauna. Minimal sawing or modifying certain components may be necessary during the assembly process. Two people can generally do the assembly in 6-8 hours. It is recommended that you review the installation manual in advance to familiarize yourself with the process.

Traditional saunas require very little upkeep. Simply wipe down the interior after each use and check for any dust or debris that you may have tracked in. Read more about long-term care and maintenance here.
